I recently purchased a Blokees Iron Monger figurine and I’d like to talk about it today!

My Blokees Iron Monger figure.
What are Blokees?
People use the word Blokees in different ways. First, Blokees is a company that produces collectible plastic model figurines. These figurines have the Blokees brand and are referred to as Blokees themselves. At the time of this writing, the most popular Blokees are the Transformers line. But Blokees has been exploring other licenses, coming up with other series like Ultraman and Pokemon. Check out the official Blokees website for more information about them.
Last 2024, Blokees released the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 line of figurines. The Blokees Iron Monger figurine that I’ll be reviewing today is part of the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 line. Note that Marvel Blokees are blind boxes – you don’t know what figurine you’ll get until you open it.
Blokees Marvel General Stuff
While the Blokees Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 figurines are very similar to each other, Iron Monger is of a different type. This figurine is similar to Hulk and Thanos from Series 01, with larger parts. Blokees Marvel figures come disassembled inside a sealed opaque package. All the pieces are already cut and either colored or pre-painted. Even decals are already attached, so all you need to do is put the pieces together. Iron Monger, being of the larger version, does not have the new thigh parts with better articulation.

Having fun with my Marvel Blokees figurines.
There isn’t a need to attach any decals or stickers since they already come attached to the parts. With the amount of Blokees experience under my belt, assembling Iron Monger was very easy. One minor issue that I have is that it’s quite easy for a part to get dislodged, especially when posing them. But these figurines are meant for display and not for any rough play. Any part that’s dislodged during posing or handling can easily be put back again.
These Marvel Blokees figures also have decent articulation, which I didn’t expect for a small figurine that requires assembly. There are hinge joints for the knees and elbows, and ball-and-socket joints for the shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles. The neck piece allows for the head to have some rotation. When assembled, these Marvel Blokees figures are definitely poseable.
Appearance and Details
I don’t expect one-to-one accuracy with the reference material, but I still expect these figurines to be close to what they are representing. Blokees Iron Monger is largely based on Iron Monger from the first Iron Man movie.

Blokees Iron Monger shows how much Blokees is committed to adding details. Starting with the head, which retains its cylindrical shape with a dome on top. The face plate has the same three openings for the mouth, as well as similarly shaped eye sockets. The upper body retains a lot of the detail from the source. There’s a tube running behind the head that’s connected to the top of each shoulder. The shoulder pads match the source but they actually get in the way of articulation. The chest has similar looking pieces and even has the dots in front of the shoulder pads. The arc reactor has decals to avoid making it look plain, but my figurine has the decals attached slightly off center.

Upper body of Iron Monger.
The shoulders of Blokees Iron Monger are the same generic shoulder pieces for large figures, so they don’t match the source. The left forearm does match the sourch with similar looking guns molded into the forearm piece, but the right forearm is just a mirror image of the left and doesn’t have the missile launchers. The hands are a lot more accurate, consisting of four blocky fingers each. In the middle of each palm is a hole where you can insert the energy blast attachments that you can get from different Iron Man figurines.

Left side of Iron Monger.
The legs of Blokees Iron Monger also have some inaccuracies. There are attachments for the hips that give them some bulk and have discs on the other sides. However, these discs are actually located on the knees of the original. These hip attachments also reduce the articulation of the knees significantly. Rather than have tubes on the outer sides of the hips and legs, Blokees Iron Monger only has them on the legs. The feet are also larger in front, but I can understand that this was done to allow the figurine to stand without a base.

The legs of Iron Monger.
I can look past the inaccuracies because these figurines don’t have to be perfect. However, Blokees Iron Monger has short legs. This looks more obvious compared to other “large” Blokees like Hulk and Thanos because the Iron Monger figurine can actually touch its knees with the hands while standing straight up. Granted, this isn’t too bad, especially once you accept the fact that Marvel Blokees figurines weren’t designed with scale in mind.

Back of the Iron Monger figurine.
The back of Blokees Iron Monger has decent detail. To avoid looking plain, there are several circular protrusions spread across the back. I couldn’t find an image of the back of the actual armor for comparison so I’m not sure if these are accurate. I almost forgot about the torso, which is fully inside the chest and waist. You can’t rotate Iron Monger at the waist too much without pulling the torso up or pulling apart the chest and/or waist pieces.

Iron Monger vs Iron Man.
I mentioned a lot of inaccuracies, but let’s be real. I only found these because I actually took the time to compare Blokees Iron Monger with other Iron Monger images. There’s a lot of things that Blokees did right when it comes to the details they put into this figurine, which makes it look like the real thing.
Conclusion
Blokees Iron Monger is a really good-looking figurine. The biggest issue with it is the reduced articulation. I’ve tried, but the poses I could get out of this figurine were very few. I guess accuracy and more detail comes with the price of reduced articulation. If only Iron Monger had palms facing forward hands like other armored characters, or even some closed fist hands, the articulation issue wouldn’t be as much of a problem.

“I’ve never really had a taste for this kind of thing, but I must admit I’m deeply enjoying the suit!”
I was surprised to see Blokees Iron Monger in Series 02. He was an early MCU one-and-done character and there are a lot of other villains who are more popular. I only got him because I needed more villains as sparring partners for my collection of heroes. I was disappointed in the reduced articulation but because of how detailed the figurine is, I would still recommend adding Iron Monger to any collection.
