I recently purchased a Blokees Wasp figurine and I’d like to talk about it today!

My Blokees Wasp figure.

What are Blokees?

People use the word Blokees in different ways. First, Blokees is a company that produces collectible plastic model figurines. These figurines have the Blokees brand and are referred to as Blokees themselves. At the time of this writing, the most popular Blokees are the Transformers line. But Blokees has been exploring other licenses, coming up with other series like Ultraman and Pokemon. Check out the official Blokees website for more information about them.

Last 2024, Blokees released the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 line of figurines. The Blokees Wasp figurine that I’ll be reviewing today is part of the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 line. Note that Marvel Blokees are blind boxes – you don’t know what figurine you’ll get until you open it.

Blokees Marvel General Stuff

The Blokees Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 02 figurines are very similar to each other. Most of the figurines use the same parts for the chest and torso internals, arms, and legs. So, what can be said about a specific figure in terms of assembly and articulation also applies to other figurines in the same line. A Blokees Marvel figure comes disassembled inside a sealed opaque package. All the pieces are already cut and either colored or pre-painted. Even decals are already attached, so all you need to do is put the pieces together. What’s new in Series 02 are the thigh parts. Unlike Series 01, Series 02 figurines now have an additional joint above the knee which allows for better leg articulation. This joint also allows for separate kneecaps, so the knees are no longer built into the boots of the figurines.

Having fun with my Marvel Blokees figurines.

The new thigh parts also gave me the most difficulty in assembling these Marvel Blokees figures. I had trouble figuring out an easy way to connect them until my last Series 02 figurine. Aside from this, anyone used to Blokees figures should find assembly to be an easy task. There isn’t a need to attach any decals or stickers since they already come attached to the parts. With the amount of Blokees experience under my belt, assembling the rest of the figure parts was very easy. One minor issue that I have is that it’s quite easy for a part to get dislodged, especially when posing them. But these figurines are meant for display and not for any rough play. Any part that’s dislodged during posing or handling can easily be put back again.

These Marvel Blokees figures also have decent articulation, which I didn’t expect for a small figurine that requires assembly. There are hinge joints for the knees and elbows, and ball-and-socket joints for the shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles. The neck piece allows for the head to have some rotation. When assembled, these Marvel Blokees figures are definitely poseable.

Appearance and Details

I don’t expect one-to-one accuracy with the reference material, but I still expect these figurines to be close to what they are representing. Blokees Wasp is based on Wasp from Ant-Man and the Wasp, but the yellows are as vivid as the costume from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

I had concerns about female characters being represented in Marvel Blokees because they might not be feminine enough, but Blokees Wasp did well to address that concern. Her chest plate has breasts and is significantly smaller than the usual Marvel Blokees figurine. The pattern on her chest, torso, and belt does mimic the patterns on the source, but in slightly different shades of yellow. The belt is especially different as it looks like a little bit of orange was mixed into the yellow paint used.

Blokees Wasp upper body

Wasp’s upper body.

Blokees Wasp has smaller upper and lower arms. The upper arm was a little disappointing as it only had a strip of yellow paint with a slight dotted pattern. There are bracelet accessories for either wrist which is also quite different from the wrist blasters that the original had.

Like Blokees Spider-Man, Blokees Wasp has regular sized legs. Whenever I look at the figure as a whole, the disproportion is glaring. I hope Blokees can make different legs for female characters in the future. There is some lining in front of the hips and on the kneecaps. It’s worth noting that Wasp has the new knee joints, which is great for different flying poses.

Blokees Wasp lower body

Lower body of Wasp.

The big feature of Blokees Wasp are her wings. There’s a piece that attaches to the figure’s back to which each of the wings attach to. The piece itself looks nothing like the pack from the source, but it’s not a big deal. Wasp comes with four transparent wings – a bigger pair for the top and smaller ones for the bottom. The wings follow the shape of the source and even has some engravings that help avoid making them look plain.

Blokees Wasp back

Each of the wings attach to the backpack via ball joints. These allow for good control on how to pose them. The rest of Wasp’s back is quite plain though, with only the back of her arms and belt having a color other than dark gray.

Finally, Blokees Wasp has a really accurate head. The visor is yellow, and the helm is silver in front and dark grey at the back. In terms of color accuracy, the only thing that’s missing is a bit of dark grey for each of the antenna that’s attached to her ears.

Conclusion

Originally, I didn’t want to get Series 02 Blokees Wasp. The character really didn’t have a presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe outside of the Ant-Man films. But after seeing the detail on her figurine, I caved and got her anyways. And while I was disappointed in the disproportion when comparing her upper body and lower body, I’m still happy with the figure.

“That’s how you punch.”

Aside from the legs being much bigger than the arms, the inaccuracies in the figurine aren’t glaring enough to make me dislike it. Since it’s not likely to get another version of Wasp in a future Blokees Infinity Saga series, I’m quite content with this one. Is Blokees Wasp an essential figure for someone’s Marvel Blokees collection? Not really. But you’ll be happy to have her as a companion figure in case you get yourself an Ant-Man.
