I recently purchased a Blokees Black Panther figurine and I’d like to talk about it today!

My Blokees Black Panther figure.

What are Blokees?

People use the word Blokees in different ways. First, Blokees is a company that produces collectible plastic model figurines. These figurines have the Blokees brand and are referred to as Blokees themselves. At the time of this writing, the most popular Blokees are the Transformers line. But Blokees has been exploring other licenses, coming up with other series like Ultraman and Pokemon. Check out the official Blokees website for more information about them.

Last October 2024, Blokees released the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 01 line of figurines. The Blokees Black Panther figurine that I’ll be reviewing today is part of the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 01 line. Note that Marvel Blokees are blind boxes – you don’t know what figurine you’ll get until you open it.

Blokees Marvel General Stuff

The Blokees Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 01 figurines are very similar to each other. Most of the figurines use the same parts for the chest and torso internals, arms, and legs. So, what can be said about a specific figure in terms of assembly and articulation also applies to other figurines in the same line. A Blokees Marvel figure comes disassembled inside a sealed opaque package. All the pieces are already cut and either colored or pre-painted. Even decals are already attached, so all you need to do is put the pieces together.

Having fun with my Marvel Blokees figurines.

Anyone used to Blokees figures should find assembly to be an easy task, especially since there isn’t a need to attach any decals or stickers. With a little bit of Blokees experience under my belt, it was quite easy for me to assemble Black Panther. One minor issue that I have is that it’s quite easy for a part to get dislodged, especially when posing them. But these figurines are meant for display and not for any rough play. Any part that’s dislodged during posing or handling can easily be put back again.

These Marvel Blokees figures also have decent articulation, which I didn’t expect for a small figurine that requires assembly. There are hinge joints for the knees and elbows, and ball-and-socket joints for the shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles. The neck piece allows for the head to have some rotation. When assembled, these Marvel Blokees figures are definitely poseable.

Appearance and Details

I don’t expect one-to-one accuracy with the reference material, but I still expect these figurines to be close to what they are representing. It looks like Blokees Black Panther was based on the Civil War version because of the absence of violet/purple highlights that were applied in the Black Panther film costume.

Black Panther seems to be pretty easy to recreate, right? The costume is all black, with a few traces of metal here and there. The costume itself has a lot of black engravings running all around it. For the most part, Blokees did great with their Black Panther figurine.

There are silver accents where you expect them to be, and even at spots where there aren’t any. But they all make sense and help put some color in what otherwise would have been an all-black figurine. These silver accents are a little thick and pronounced compared to the reference but it makes sense for a small figure.

Blokees Black Panther has his necklace built into the chest and back, also slightly larger in terms of proportions. It might not clearly show in my pictures but his chest and back also have engravings that are similar to the pattern of the Civil War costume. Even his mask has some silver linings and engravings.

Black Panther smirk

It looks like Black Panther has a smiley on his face.

I have to admit though, the linings on Black Panther’s face are a little too thick for my taste. The lining on his nose kind of looks like a smirk. At certain angles, it looks like Black Panther has a silly smile that I can no longer unsee after noticing it.

Black Panther legs

I want to say that there’s nothing wrong with Blokees Black Panther. But I actually have one big problem with it. You see, Black Panther comes with the standard generic hands. In my opinion, Blokees should have given him extra hands that showcase his claws. All the other Blokees figurines in Series 01 has something extra. Iron Man and Rescue have extra hands and energy blasts. Captain America has a shield. Thor has Mjolnir, Loki has his scepter, and Thanos has his weapon.

Blokees Black Panther generic hands

“Give this man some claws!”

Blokees Black Panther has… nothing. Sure, he doesn’t have any weapons or accessories BUT claws are his trademark. I mean, Black Panther scratched Cap’s shield in the movie! Normally I’d say I’m nitpicking, but the other figurines have extras. So Black Panther should have had hands with claws or at least closed fist hands.

Black Panther vs Captain America

Imagine if he had claws…

I don’t know if a new version of Blokees Black Panther would be justified since his costume really doesn’t change significantly. Maybe we’ll get those claw hands once Blokees does the Shuri Black Panther? Or Killmonger? In any case, they missed that chance with this figurine.

Conclusion

Initially, I only wanted a few figures from the Marvel Blokees line. And Black Panther wasn’t one of them. Did Blokees Black Panther change my mind? Not really. Technically, there’s nothing wrong with the figurine. It is well made and has a lot of detail that represent the character well, despite having an all-black costume.

Wakanda forever!

But if I were to rank the Infinity Saga Series 01 figurines based on value, Blokees Black Panther would be low on that list. Not because it’s a bad figurine, but because the other figurines in the same series are better. Now that I’ve decided to get more of these Marvel Blokees, I’m definitely keeping Black Panther. A friend of mine offered to do a 3D print of claw hands for him, which will definitely be an improvement. Again, there’s nothing technically wrong with the figurine. It looks great and has decent articulation for posing. I just expect more because of the other figurines in the same series.
