I recently purchased a Blokees Groot figurine and I’d like to talk about it today!

What are Blokees?

People use the word Blokees in different ways. First, Blokees is a company that produces collectible plastic model figurines. These figurines have the Blokees brand and are referred to as Blokees themselves. At the time of this writing, the most popular Blokees are the Transformers line. But Blokees has been exploring other licenses, coming up with other series like Ultraman and Pokemon. Check out the official Blokees website for more information about them.

This year (2025), Blokees released the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 03 line of figurines. The Blokees Groot figurine that I’ll be reviewing today is part of the Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 03 line. Note that Marvel Blokees are blind boxes – you don’t know what figurine you’ll get until you open it.

Blokees Marvel General Stuff

The Blokees Marvel Infinity Saga Superhero Series 03 figurines are very similar to each other. Most of the figurines use the same parts for the chest and torso internals, arms, and legs. So, what can be said about a specific figure in terms of assembly and articulation also applies to other figurines in the same line. A Blokees Marvel figure comes disassembled inside a sealed opaque package. All the pieces are already cut and either colored or pre-painted. Even decals are already attached, so all you need to do is put the pieces together. Series 03 has the improved knee joints from Series 02 that offers better leg articulation. In Series 03, these knee joints are already assembled out of the box, which is worth mentioning because they were hard to put together.

Having fun with my Marvel Blokees figurines.

Anyone used to Blokees figures should find assembly to be an easy task. There isn’t a need to attach any decals or stickers since they already come attached to the parts. With the amount of Blokees experience under my belt, assembling the rest of the figure parts was very easy. One minor issue that I have is that it’s quite easy for a part to get dislodged, especially when posing them. But these figurines are meant for display and not for any rough play. Any part that’s dislodged during posing or handling can easily be put back again.

These Marvel Blokees figures also have decent articulation, which I didn’t expect for a small figurine that requires assembly. There are hinge joints for the knees and elbows, and ball-and-socket joints for the shoulders, wrists, hips, and ankles. The neck piece allows for the head to have some rotation. When assembled, these Marvel Blokees figures are definitely poseable.

Appearance and Details

I don’t expect one-to-one accuracy with the reference material, but I still expect these figurines to be close to what they are representing. Based on his size, head shape, and the twigs on his shoulders, Blokees Groot looks like it is based on Groot from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

My biggest issue with Blokees Groot is that its color is too light. Groot is supposed to be a tree-like creature, but its bark is almost as light as human skin. If you can look past that, this figurine has quite a bit of detail to it. The shape of the head does match the source, complete with green highlights to represent moss that covers Groot. I really like the decals used for the eyes. Groot’s face could have had more fine lines. The absence of these lines makes Blokees Groot look much younger than the version that is being represented.

Groot’s upper body.

The chest of Blokees Groot has engravings which represent his rough bark panels. We see more of the green moss here as well. There’s also a minor issue with the shoulder and torso of the figurine. Because these parts are using the standard Blokees mold, they don’t have the bark engravings. Instead, there are decals that attempt to recreate the look of Groot’s bark. The black lining is too dark and makes these decals stand out too much. I would have preferred lighter lines instead.

Right side of Groot.

Blokees Groot has the improved forearm parts that aren’t exaggeratedly large. These parts also has engravings that resemble bark. Groot has an open right hand with long fingers and a closed left fist. I think Blokees Groot should have had extra hands, like a closed right fist and an open left hand.

Blokees Groot lower body

Lower body of Groot.

I was surprised to find out that Blokees Groot still had the older knee parts from Infinity Saga Series 01. It’s not an issue though, as Groot isn’t known for flexibility. His lower legs and feet all have similar bark engravings. Groot has the generic Blokees Marvel upper leg parts so there are no engravings, only the same decals with black lining.

Blokees Groot back view

Groot’s backside.

The back of Blokees Groot is more of the same. His lower legs, feet, and upper back all have bark engravings. The backs of his upper arms have the decals that attempt to look like bark. I think I would have preferred the figure without the decals, actually. I was expecting some nubs or stems at the back of Groot to which Blokees Rocket Raccoon could latch on to. Both figures are in Series 03 and the two characters are known to work as a close pair. There’s no easy way to get Rocket Raccoon to grab onto Blokees Groot, unfortunately.

Groot with the Guardians

Rocket and Groot vs Star-Lord.

Finally, Blokees Groot doesn’t seem to be significantly taller than Star-Lord. I was going to mention this as a flaw but after comparing Groot to my other figures, I realized that “regular-sized” figures like Star-Lord actually got taller starting in Series 02. If you compare Blokees Groot with figures from Series 01, the difference in height is a lot more pronounced.

Conclusion

Like Blokees Rocket Raccoon, I think Blokees Groot is a flawed but decent figurine. The lighter brown color really stands out to me as an inaccuracy, and so do the decals with the strong black lining. And like Rocket, this is probably the first and only time we’ll see Groot in Blokees form. It’s a little disappointing that we’ll have to settle for Blokees Groot.

Blokees Groot posing

“I… AM… GROOOOOTTTTT!!!”

If you can look past the light coloring and the forced decals, Blokees Groot actually offers a lot of detail that closely resembles the source. If you’re good with a paintbrush, you can easily fix this figurines flaws. I was looking forward to completing the whole Guardians of the Galaxy team and while I am disappointed with Blokees Groot, I’m still glad we got him and will welcome him in my collection.
