Marvel Snap – My October 2023 Infinite Deck – MoveThem

I started playing this little mobile game called Marvel Snap since March 2023 (the Days of Future Past season) and I’ve been quite hooked since! I hit Infinite Rank by my fourth season. I’ve hit Infinite rank multiple times since then, each one with a different deck. Since Marvel Snap is a live service game that is undergoing continuous development, the competition continues to evolve. New cards get introduced in the game, and existing cards can sometimes be changed for better or for worse. As time goes by, these old decks may see significant changes. I’ve decided to write about these decks since I’m a sentimental guy and I want to capture these moments. For October 2023, I used a non-meta deck that I call “MoveThem” to get me to Infinite.

Deck Details

Infinite Deck Name: MoveThem

Season Used: Bloodstone (October 2023)

The MoveThem deck.

Card List: Nebula, Ghost-Spider, Kraven, Jeff, Cloak, Juggernaut, Polaris, Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Aero, Alioth, Magneto

Win Condition: Build a Power advantage through Kraven, Miles Morales, and Nebula in the early game. Disrupt your opponent’s plans by moving his/her cards as well as yours with Aero and Magneto in the end game.

Card Roles:

  1. Nebula – Puts pressure on your opponent to play at her location.
  2. Ghost-Spider – Moves your last played card to her location.
  3. Kraven – Gains 2 Power for every card moved to his location.
  4. Jeff – Can be moved once per game. Can be played on any location.
  5. Cloak – Allows you and your opponent to move any number of cards to his location the turn after he’s played.
  6. Juggernaut – Moves opposing cards played on the location he’s played on.
  7. Polaris – Moves a 1 or 2 Cost opposing card to her location.
  8. Spider-Man – Moves to a different location and takes a revealed opposing card with him.
  9. Miles Morales – Cost becomes 1 after a turn when any card moved.
  10. Aero – Moves the opponent’s last played card to her location.
  11. Alioth – Destroys any unrevealed cards at its location.
  12. Magneto – Moves all 3 and 4 Cost cards to his location.

Key Card Strategies

Bait and Switch: MoveThem relies on moving your opponent’s cards. Nebula will help enable that, and Kraven will give you benefits for it. Nebula is bait for your opponent to play on her location, giving your move cards targets for later. Kraven allows you to build Power in one location and with a little luck, can grow really tall. Play both these cards in separate locations to maximize their impact.

The Movers: MoveThem relies on these 3-Cost cards that can move opposing cards. Polaris can move a single 1 or 2-cost card but she can move them directly to Kraven for a guaranteed boost. Spider-Man and Juggernaut can be played where Nebula is. Spider-Man can only move one face up card and will move randomly, but if he lands on Kraven we’re looking at plus 4 Power. Juggernaut move all cards played in the Nebula location, but he stays there and they all go to random locations too. On Turn 4, you can play another 3-Cost mover plus Miles Morales.

Polaris, Spider-Man, and Juggernaut.

End Game: Magneto and Alioth are MoveThem’s closers. Magneto can sometimes backfire because the combined total Power of the 3 and 4-Cost cards that he moves can be more than his own Power but moving them into the Kraven lane can offset that. If you have a Power advantage and priority, Alioth can guarantee the win for you if you guess your opponent’s next move correctly.

Other Tips: Jeff is there for accessing closed locations and moving Power. Ghost-Spider can readjust your cards and help trigger a move for Miles Morales, who becomes 5 Power for just 1 Energy next turn.

Deck Evolution

What’s Changed in This Deck? The MoveThem deck has been changed significantly. Spider-Man and Aero can only move face up cards now (they used to be able to move unrevealed cards too). But the biggest change to this deck is Alioth. From a 2-Power card that completely destroys unrevealed cards, Alioth now has 8-Power but only removes the text of unrevealed cards in its location.

What’s Changed in the Meta? Once again, a lot of things have changed in the Marvel Snap meta. Loki Collector rose up, then disappeared after changes to Loki and Collector. Ms. Marvel’s release made Lockdown decks prevalent, then she and Professor X were nerfed. InSheNaut became dominant. Thanos decks became very dominant with the additions of Cull Obsidian, Skaar, and Mockingbird. Annihilus Junk and Lockdown made it difficult to even find space to move your opponent’s cards. Hela Discard decks became a lot stronger too, and those decks aren’t susceptible to placement disruption thanks to Hela’s ability to spread Power everywhere.

Conclusion

MoveThem’s exact concept may still work but it will be hard to pull off against the current meta giants. As of this writing, Hela Discard is at the top and that deck is designed to bring up Power everywhere and anywhere on Turn 6. With Alioth changed to an effect that no longer destroys cards, this exact MoveThem deck may no longer be viable at all. But I’m glad that I was able to use this deck to get to Infinite at least once.
