Marvel Snap – My March 2024 Infinite Deck – AnniHawk

I started playing this little mobile game called Marvel Snap since March 2023 (the Days of Future Past season) and I’ve been quite hooked since! I hit Infinite Rank by my fourth season. I’ve hit Infinite rank multiple times since then, each one with a different deck. Since Marvel Snap is a live service game that is undergoing continuous development, the competition continues to evolve. New cards get introduced in the game, and existing cards can sometimes be changed for better or for worse. As time goes by, these old decks may see significant changes. I’ve decided to write about these decks since I’m a sentimental guy and I want to capture these moments. For March 2024, I used a deck that I’d like to refer to as AnniHawk.

Deck Details

Infinite Deck Name: AnniHawk

Season Used: Avengers vs X-Men (March 2024)

AnniHawk deck

Card List: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Black Widow, Mobius M. Mobius, Rockslide, Shang-Chi, Iron Lad, The Sentry, Annihilus, Alioth

Win Condition: Use disruption on the opponent while relying on high Power cards and Alioth to win lanes.

How it Works: Use The Sentry, Darkhawk, and Annihilus to get a Power advantage then finish it off with Alioth.

Card Roles:

  1. The Hood – Negative Power card that creates a 1-Cost 6 Power Demon.
  2. Spider-Ham – Turns one of your opponent’s cards into a Pig with no abilities.
  3. Korg – Adds one Rock to your opponent’s deck.
  4. Black Widow – Adds the Widow’s Bite to your opponent’s hand and prevents one draw.
  5. Mobius M. Mobius – Tech against cost reduction effects.
  6. Rockslide – Adds two Rocks to your opponent’s deck.
  7. Shang-Chi – Tech against high Power cards.
  8. Iron Lad – Can duplicate another card’s ability.
  9. The Sentry – High Power card that creates a -10 Power card called The Void.
  10. Darkhawk – Gets +2 Power for each card remaining in your opponent’s deck.
  11. Annihilus – Sends all Negative Power cards on your side to your opponent’s side.
  12. Alioth – Destroys all opposing unrevealed cards in its location.

Key Card Strategies

The Annihilus Package: The first part of the AnniHawk deck. The Sentry and The Hood are perfect partners for Annihilus, who can send Negative Power cards on your side to the opponent. The Sentry is a high Power card with the drawback of generating the -10 Power Void in one of your locations. But that just means that Annihilus becomes a 16 Power swing in your favor. The Hood is another card that Annihilus can throw to your opponent while giving you the 1-Cost 6 Power Demon.

The Darkhawk Package: The second part of the AnniHawk deck. Darkhawk and his buddies, Korg and Rockslide, have been popular Marvel Snap combos for a long time, even before I started playing the game. The concept is simple – Darkhawk gains more Power the more cards your opponent has in his deck. Korg adds a Rock into your opponent’s deck, and Rockslide adds two. The Rocks also serve as disruption as your opponent can draw them instead of his own cards.

Arachnophobia: Spider-Ham is low-cost disruption that can give you intel on what your opponent’s deck is as early as Turn 1. Sometimes you’ll hit a card that’s not very important. Other times, you’ll be hitting your opponent’s Hela, Knull, Silver Surfer, and basically kill his win condition. Meanwhile, Black Widow works similarly with Korg. Her Widow’s Bite prevents at least one card draw if played before the last turn, making your opponent’s deck larger by one card. But your opponent also has to use up one slot to play the Widow’s Bite, effectively clogging one location.

Other Notes: I had Mobius M. Mobius in the deck because Mockingbird was released this season and she was all over the place. But he’s replaceable. Also, Iron Lad is really good in this deck. The only bad hits that I can see are an early Shang-Chi or Annihilus activation, but this won’t harm you if that happens. Iron Lad hitting Darkhawk is one of the better outcomes – and you know you’re drawing Darkhawk next!

Deck Evolution

What’s Changed in This Deck? Alioth was changed the following month, getting more Power but it now only removes text instead of destroying unrevealed cards. Darkhawk and The Sentry both had power reductions, with Darkhawk losing 1 Power and both Sentry/Void losing 2 Power.

What’s Changed in the Meta? The season I played AnniHawk, Thanos decks were prevalent thanks to Mockingbird giving it another tool, and Darkhawk is strong against Thanos decks. But Thanos was nerfed shortly after. A new deck centered around Cannonball and Professor X called Pro Ball started to become popular. Red Hulk was released and became one of the most popular 6-Cost cards. But the most consistent deck that dominated Marvel Snap for the next couple of seasons was Hela Discard.

Conclusion

Annihilus decks were never considered top meta during this and succeeding seasons. AnniHawk is definitely a non-meta deck that can hold its own against more popular competition. Despite the nerf to The Sentry and Darkhawk, this deck is still potent enough to get good pilots to Infinite. I’ve seen more than one person use this (or a variation of this) deck to get to Infinite. The new Alioth definitely needs to be replaced though – Red Hulk and Cannonball are great replacements.
